Different types of bees fall into different social catagories, the most popular of these catagories are:
Eusocial - this is the most advanced type of social structure, honey bees, bumble bees and stingless bees all belong to this type of structure.
Semiscocial - this type of group often consists of cohabiting female bees, sometimes sisters, the labour is divided within the group.
Bees that belong to the eusocial society live in colonies, each colony has a single queen bee and at various times, worker bees or dones. When a man mad colony is created it is know as a hive, or beehive. Some hives, especially honey bees can be up to 40,000 bees in size during the spring months.
